Second World War was one of the biggest global wars. It lasted for six years. The world was divided into two major groups the Allies and the Axis. When Germany invaded Poland on 1st September 1939, then the War was started. Britain, US, and other powers were Allied forces and they announced a War against Axis forces Germany, Italy, and Japan. There were many countries that war directly or indirectly affected by the war. India was also affected by the Second World War or World War II.
As Britain was the allied forces during World War II, its control over India was slowly loosening the grip. The protests were peak in India against fascist Britain during World War II. Britain was running out of resources and people during the Second World War.
Quit India Movement was one of the historic movements against Britishers, when Cripps negotiation was rejected by Congress, the Quit India Movement initiated by many leaders against Britishers. During the Wartime Indian Army was expanded by Armed and naval troops with over 2,50,000 soldiers. The Bengal Famine of 1943 killed millions of people.
It was also one of the incessant impacts on India by Japanese and Burma war. Lahore Resolution and India Pakistan Division took place during War as the Mohammad Ali Jinnah got the support of 2 million Muslim followers. After the end of WWII, Great Britain was in loss. After Prime Minister Clement Attlee won the elections, he granted Independence in India in 1947.
