Like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was for the entire nation, the government of India launched a campaign for school students and children named ‘Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan’. This mission was proposed to instil the habit of cleanliness among children from a very young age. For it, the government organized various campaigns and seminars.
Under this mission, the government directed the school and colleges to provide three essential services for students. These services are the availability of fresh drinking water, clean and comfortable toilets for everyone, and a platform for children to hand-wash properly. They also must have an adequate number of toilets for women and menstrual hygiene management facilities.
The organizations also conducted many special classes for children to teach them about healthy habits and sanitation. These classes were mainly to teach children the best method to wash your hands properly. The government also made it mandatory for rural schools to build sufficient toilets for children.
Regularly cleaning the toilets, keeping the class-rooms clean and dirt-free, cleaning the drinking water storage tanks regularly were some strict direction of the government to the educational institutions. All these things were done in order to provide children with a fresh environment and a healthy future.
