Introduction

Martin Luther King Jr. was an American political activist and the most visible spokesperson. He was the first President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

Short Biography

Martin Luther King Jr. had born on 15 January 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S. He had faced racial humiliation in his childhood. He was only 19 years old when he completed graduation in sociology.

He married to Coretta Scott King on 18 June 1953. They gave birth to four children after their marriage.
He was the 1st President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and held this post on 10 January 1957. The Civil rights movement and the Peace movement were the two most incidents of his life which made him globally famous.

He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and was then the youngest Nobel Peace Prize owner. He also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977 posthumously. The United States’ government awarded him with Congressional Gold Medal in 2004, after his death.

He was assassinated by a gun on 4 April 1968.

Apart from politics, he had also shown his skill in writing. He received many awards posthumously, and he will always be remembered for his contributions.
